UK Game Store Employee Possibly Leaks The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Release Date

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is arguably the best game of its generation, most likely on par with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Last of Us. So if there’s a game worth having a “remaster” for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, The Witcher 3 is at the top of the list.

We’re surprised CDPR didn’t take advantage of all the hype surrounding The Witcher by remaking the first two games.

Unfortunately, while we’ve known for a while that CD Projekt RED is working on a repackaged The Witcher 3, which includes the base game and all of its expansion packs and DLC, the Polish studio has refused to give it a release date. Last we heard, the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 will still release later this year, but a specific release date is still not out – until now.

According to an anonymous employee of a UK-based video game retailer, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on December 9th.

Specifically, the now-deleted leaked image details the store’s next available pre-orders as well as release dates for each title. The listing includes the updated release date of The Witcher 3. Although this is not official information, the fact that the image is no longer on the internet via the original source suggests that it was taken down by someone, maybe the CDPR.

I’m working in a game and The Witcher 3 Next-Gen just got a release date update on our pre-order screen. Maybe a placeholder? of witcher

We learned a lot about CDPR projects a few weeks ago. For example, CDPR has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a full sequel, despite the first game only having one expansion. On top of that, CDPR also “revealed” that future Cyberpunk and Witcher games will have a multiplayer element. Also, CDPR is working on an original IP for the first time in the series’ history. Finally, CDPR claims that the upcoming Witcher game is only the first in a planned trilogy.

TLDR; there will be plenty of CDPR games coming out later this decade.

Fingers crossed, the current-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will support 4K HDR at 120fps.

For now, fans will just have to “make do” with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.
