For seven years, the Secondary quest (17900 Detroit Ave., 216-228-1212) in Lakewood is the place to go to enjoy board games, trivia nights, and themed nights celebrating Star Wars or Pi Day. The self-proclaimed “nerd bar” stocked an expansive library of board games and paired that clean goodness with craft beer and snacks.

This nerdy nirvana is coming to an end thanks to Covid; Management announced on their social media pages that the bar will close at the end of the month.

“Last year we all went through a lot of ups and downs. There were a lot of new challenges to overcome, and we recovered as best we could with new ways of serving, new products and a new way to reward our customers for coming to see us. Ultimately we are entering winter with the lowest customer participation due to the new influx of Covid combined with the highest cost of operation we have never dealt with. After much intense consideration, this led to the difficult decision to close The Side Quest. ”

Fans who wish to help out can still visit during the rest of the month to purchase food, drink, and board games, which will help cover expenses incurred by the business in recent months. (Also, if anyone wants to take over the business, the owner would love to hear from you.)

“Thank you very much to everyone who has come to see us 1000 times or even once. You have helped us build an amazing community which has made everything that has happened here possible.”
