John Williams back for Obi-Wan Kenobi [Rumor Watch]

star wars would not star wars if it wasn’t for John Williams. The scores the legendary composer wrote for the Star Wars franchise are nothing short of iconic. In 2018, Williams said he was retiring from writing music for star wars. His last work for star wars was on the 2019 film, The Rise of Skywalker. Where he also had a brief on-screen appearance. However, if the rumors are true, we might see/hear Williams return for Obi Wan Kenobi. There’s no official confirmation on this rumor, but it’s definitely an exciting possibility for fans.

LRG online reports that a source within Lucasfilm indicates that John Williams is helping to score Obi-Wan Kenobi. It’s not rumored whether he’s scoring the entire show or assisting another songwriter. Given Williams’ age and desire to retire, I don’t believe he will be the main composer for the entire series. This may be a situation, similar to The Book of Boba Fett, where the Mandalorian composer, Ludwig Goransson marked the main theme. Leaving the rest of the series to Joseph Shirley compose.

It certainly makes sense to include John Williams in the project. As this might be the last time we see Obi-Wan Kenobi on screen, it would be fitting to have Williams there as he was when Kenobi was first introduced.
