Is a PlayStation 5 restock imminent for some stores?
There’s a lot going on in the gaming world right now that isn’t exactly the best. Like a certain company suggesting Loot Boxes are “loved” by players even though we know that’s a blatant lie. Or how some companies have recently been exposed for their treatment of their employees and many wonder if real change will finally come to the industry. But what confuses gamers the most across the board is that there’s currently a shortage of semiconductors around the world, which means consoles like the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 are very difficult to obtain.
This bodes particularly badly for the last two consoles as they are still relatively new to the market, and so those early years are SUPPOSED to be when they sell good volume to get things going, and yet, because of the shortage (among other things problems with a blockage in the pipeline), things are not really going their way.
However, if you’re one of those people who don’t have the PS5, you’re in luck, because apparently GameStop is going to get a shipment of it this coming weekend which will tie into the release of Madden NFL 23a major release in August.
Admittedly, we don’t know how many units of the PlayStation 5 GameStop will get, or how they’ll pan out nationwide, but if you have a GameStop near you, you might just need to call the store and see if you can get one. Or get a professional subscription if that’s really the requirement for things.
Obviously this won’t be a permanent fix to the problem, and no doubt a quick sell (not the least of which is because of madthis game sells millions every year), but it’s a start, and for each of the three major console developers, that’s what they need, a good start and a solid finish.
We have already heard about the shortage of semiconductors on the Nintendo Switch side recently, as it was noted that they sold over a million fewer consoles in the last quarter than in the same quarter l ‘last year. Their projections for the entire Nintendo Switch in the fiscal year fell to 20 million units, showing that the shortage is indeed something that affects every publisher by the millions.
When this shortage is over is honestly something we can’t determine at this time, and that’s a problem, because the longer this goes on, the more it will affect both businesses and gamers who are just trying to make play a system. on.
