Closure of Books & Brews


Carmel’s Books & Brews will close Oct. 2 after four years in their downtown Carmel location. Owners Alex and Lori Stanley cited the challenges of the pandemic for the shutdown in a social media post.

“We can’t begin to explain how the last 4 years have changed our lives”, the Stanleys wrote in his Facebook post. “We have made lasting friendships, organized fundraisers for nearly 40 nonprofits and have been personally touched by so many who have walked through our doors.”

Books & Brews is part of a local chain known for its quiz nights, board games, and shelves of lightly used books that they sell to benefit IndyReads, a non-profit organization that offers entertainment programs. literacy for adults and children. The owners invited to stop and maybe grab a souvenir in the form of a free book or board game before closing time. The property’s bar stools, tables and benches are also for sale.
